Swiss Post measures make online shopping easier

Swiss Post is introducing a number of new measures this fall that will help make the online shopping and delivery experience easier for customers in Switzerland. In 2014, the e-commerce market in the country grew by more than 7% and Swiss Post’s new measures will help to ensure that shoppers receive their ordered goods at a time and place of their choosing.

The first new measure will be the introduction of a customer login portal for online shopping, where customers can select their Swiss Post profile containing their personal details and delivery addresses, which are then used by the shopping website for their order. This means that personal data and delivery addresses only need to be entered once, and that the online shops no longer require their own address management. Customers simply click on the relevant tab and enter their username and password.

The second measure is the extension of evening and Saturday delivery times, and the trial introduction of Sunday deliveries. The trial will take place in the cities of Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne and Basel.

In 2016, Swiss Post will launch a system that allows for the individual management of parcels and registered letters. As soon as a consignment is on its way, the customer will be able to use a consignment cockpit on the Swiss Post website to select whether the consignment should be delivered to a home address or to an alternative address. In addition, customers will be able to use the cockpit to set their personal delivery preferences.
