Royal Mail to increase stamp prices from March 2018

Royal Mail has announced that from March 26, the price of a First Class stamp in the UK will increase by £0.02 (US$0.03) to £0.67 (US$0.94) and the price of a Second Class stamp will increase by £0.02 (US$0.03) to £0.58 (US$0.81).

These changes are necessary to help ensure the sustainability of the universal postal service. In addition, the price of a Large Letter First Class stamp will rise by £0.03 (US$0.04) to £1.01 (US$1.41); a Large Letter Second Class stamp will rise by £0.03 (US$0.04) to £0.79 (US$1.10).

According to Royal Mail, its stamp prices are among the best value in Europe when compared with other postal operators. Research conducted by the post has shown that the European average for First Class letters (0-100g) is £0.94 (US$1.32). The European average for Second Class letters (0-100g) is £0.74 (US$1.04).
